Obasanjo's Wife Tasks Parents, Guardians To Invest In Children's Future Despite Economic Challenges




Wife of Former President, Mrs Bola Obasanjo has called on  parents and guardians to invest in the future of their children despite the economic challenges bedeviling the nation.

Obasanjo, who urged them not to be  discourage in the face of hunger and hardships occasioned by Subsidy removal, tasked the parents and guardians to ensure their children go schools so as to achieve their dreams and become better person in the future.

She disclosed this at the 12th Anniversary and Graduation Ceremony of Lyceum Schools with the theme " Global Reach Within Local Realities" held at Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, on Friday.

Obasanjo, who praised the parents and guardians for sending their children to Lyceum schools despite high cost of feeding transportation, charged them not to relent in their efforts as they would reap the fruit of their labours in life.

She urged Nigerian parents and guardians not to use the current hardhips and hunger in the country as an excuse to remove their children from schools, expressing hope that things would get better if they don't give up on them.

"Whatever education we give to our children they our backbone and we need to lift them up. We should invest in their future with this economy and not in building houses and buying cars. May Almighty God lift their hands up and continue to provide and bless their parents". Obasanjo noted

Head of Schools, Mrs Moureen Ola-Williams admonished parents and guardians to teach the children to be respectful to teachers and their elders in the society as well as having  good characters that would guide their paths to a better tomorrow.

"As parents we play a vital role reefforcing  and principles we aim to instill in our children. I urge us all to continue to grooming them to be respectful, empathetic and responsible members of our society, teach them to respect the rules and norms that govern the school and the society"

"Today marks a significance milestones in  your lives and we are honour to celebrate you all, your hard works your dedications, your perseverance has brought you to this moment and we are very proud of each and everyone of you" she added

Earlier, the Chairman of the Schools, Dr. Yinka Ola-Williams, charged parents and guardians to imbibe morals and teach their children in the way of God so that they won't join bad gang in the society
